The ancient village of mortehoe is the perfect place for those in search of a quiet retreat. A calm cliff-top village with spectacular views, Mortehoe is listed in the Doomsday Book and has a number of interesting features including a rare barrel-roofed thirteen-century church. Mortehoe is surrounded by wonderful scenery, much of it part of a Voluntary Marine Conservation Area which is a haven for wild flowers and animals which fill the area with colour and movement. It is easily accessable from the M5 Motorway and the A361 Barnstaple Link Road via Braunton-Woolacombe-Mortehoe. Morte Point is the subject of shepherd David Kennard's video "A Year In the Life Of A Sheepdog". See www.sheepdogvideo.co.uk for more information.

Woolacombe has won the England for Excellence Gold Award for best family resort and the Best British Beach as seen in the Mail on Sunday - October 2000. Putsborough beach at one end and wollacombe at the other end of the bay has been voted one of Britain's best and lies between Morte Point and Baggy Point. This 3 mile stretch of golden sand has won both the Blue Flag and Premier Seaside Beach Awards for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. Life-guards ensure safe swimming during the summer and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy great waves and clean water.
